Another Rural Nursing Station Receives a BSP Boost.

Friday, April 9, 2021

A BSP Fiji Group community project has delivered a much-needed boost for the Nausori Highlands Village Nursing Station which serves ten villages and settlements with a population of close to 600.

The project has enhanced the health service delivery at this rural based healthy facility by converting a waiting area into a consultation room, constructing a new waiting area and supplying a generator to assist during power outages.

The project was done jointly by two companies in the BSP Fiji Group; the bank’s Namaka Branch and BSP Finance in Nadi.

BSP Finance Country Manager Krishna Raju reiterated the BSP Group’s long-standing commitment to Fiji, through its core value of Vanua & Community. “Community Projects such as this demonstrates BSP’s respect for the communities in which we operate.  An integral part is our staff also contribute by volunteering their personal time to carry out the upgrades at this nursing station in the Nausori Highlands.”

The Nursing Station serves a total of 10 villages & settlements namely; Nausori Highlands Village, Natawa Village, Tubenasolo Village, Malevani Settlement, Navunitawa Settlement, Sasa Settlement, Toko Settlement, Paradise Garden and School Compound.

Mr Raju confirmed that the Nausori Highlands Village Nursing station was identified as one that needed a boost to complement the ongoing support being given by the local community.  BSP Finance and Bank staff in Namaka saw this as an opportunity to assist the Community and the Government of Fiji in the area of rural health service delivery.

The Nursing Station endures intermittent power supply which affects drug storage and administration services.  Through the joint effort by the Bank branch and BSP Finance team in Namaka, the Station received a generator that will offer much relief for patients with Diabetes, Hypertension, TB, Cardiac related issues, Asthma and also maternity related cases as the centre will now be able to store drugs.

“We understand the financial burden associated with travelling from these remote areas to urban centres for medicines and providing an alternative energy source will assist those already battling illnesses,” added Mr Raju.

Since 2010, the BSP Fiji Group has re-invested over $10million in programmes that give back to the community.
